Luke Combs has been one of the pleasant surprises in country music the last year. He’s brought a little country back to the country mainstream.
A Southern sound with a little rock, a little country and a little pop. It all adds up to songs that are catchy while still being about real life emotions.
And it looks like Combs might be bringing a few of his buddies with him on his rise to the top. I’m not entirely sure how things relate with Tom O’Connor, but it looks like Tom has a new EP out and one of the songs features vocals from Luke.

Deserve – Tom O’Connor
This sounds like a song that would do really well on country radio. Luke has kind of brought this style back to the mainstream. It’s always been there in country music, but it kind of cycles back and forth as to whether it’s really popular or not.
We could be looking at a nice little run of Southern rock style country and I’m okay with that.
The song has a great melody. The vocals are gritty and right there on the edge of rock and country. I was wondering where the rock acts have been in the music world recently and maybe they’re in the country world.
The song is about a guy that seems to have been left heartbroken from a girl. It sounds like she may have cheated on this guy and now it sounds like the guy she cheated with may be cheating on her.
Or something similar like that. The first guy is hoping she gets what she deserves.
