So I just looked back to last fall when I reviewed Love Me Like You Mean It.
I thought the song would go to #30 on the charts.
Talk about being way off the mark.
Kelsea Ballerini just took the song to number one on the charts. She’s burst through the ceiling that women still can’t get played on country radio.
I think I read somewhere that she’s the first female not named Carrie, Miranda or Taylor to have a number one on the charts since 2004 when Gretchen Wilson had a couple huge songs.
I’m glad Kelsea is having success and now she’s moving on to her next single.
Dibs – Kelsea Ballerini
This song is another one that is super catchy.
And catchy usually translates to success on the radio. I don’t think there is anything wrong with a fun country song that has a little pop influence.
I’ll say that the first time I heard this song I wasn’t sure, but then I realized that the song was getting stuck in my head. That made me smile and maybe Kelsea will have another hit on her hands with this one.
It’s another fun love song about a girl that realizes that she has a great guy and she doesn’t want to let him get away. He sounds like a good guy that wouldn’t be taken away anyway, but jus to be safe the girl is calling dibs.
It’s all in fun and I think it works well. The production is done really well again just like on Kelsea’s first hit.
I think this one could do well. I won’t say #1, but I hope I’m proven wrong again.
What do you think?
