Yesterday we checked out the new single from the new EP from Jake Owen. Earlier in the summer and in each of the previous 3 or 4 springs Luke Bryan has released EPs with a handful of fun songs on them. The trend is for country artists to release these themed mini-records as a way to seemingly make a little extra cash, work on some fun, creative songs and get some more songs out to the music.
I love the trend. The artists are all about touring these days. That’s where they make their cash. The more songs they have out there getting plays on iTunes and on YouTube and on blogs the more people will demand tickets to the live shows. It’s not all about radio anymore and I think these fun EPs are great. I’m holding out for some cool annual holiday EPs from various artists.
Anyway, here is the new song from Dierks Bentley, Grab A Beer.
Grab A Beer – Dierks Bentley
It’s crazy to think how long Dierks Bentley has been around. I think it’s been nearly 10 years since his first single started hitting the charts and shot up all the way to number one. Since then he’s been one of the most consistent hit makers out there and I’m not sure he gets the recognition for his achievements.
With this song I think he’s just releasing some fun music. He realizes that people are out there going through tough times. Life is not fun for a lot of people during the week these days, but if you can just forget it all for a few hours on the weekend then life can be alright. That’s what this track is about and it’s cool that Dierks totally understands what it’s all about.
What do you think of the new song and the new EP?
