Jon Pardi

Just a fun country song.

Things have changed in a big way for Jon Pardi. His latest single, Head Over Boots, became his first #1 single and that always changes things for new artists.

Jon had a few hits on his first record, but he seemed poised to breakout with his second album and that’s just what happened. But now comes the real challenge…following up a big hit with more hits and keeping that momentum going.

Dirt On My Boots – Jon Pardi

Was it a risk to followup a boots song with another boots song? Maybe…but I think this one will work pretty well at country radio. It plays well to Jon’s modern, but traditional style. It’s a fun song that is about working hard during the day and then kicking back and having a good time during the night.

I would say this one falls right in line with the successful songs that artists like Luke Bryan and Dustin Lynch have been having. You might not be able to put Jon Pardi in their league just yet, but if he gets a few more hits then he’ll really be knocking on the door.

Country radio is probably going to love this one. It’s not often that a country artist breaks through with their second record, but it really feels like Jon took a big step with this one. It sounds like there could be a handful of hits on this record and I think this will be one of them. It’s a good one.

But I’m curious to see what you think.

Chart Estimate: #3

CML Points: 85/100

    Hi Dayne!

I commented on your “When I’ve Been Drinking” post almost 2 years ago… Telling you how much I freaking LOVE Jon Pardi’s music!!! I’ve been telling everyone I know to get on board with this dude for years and it’s funny how no one knew who I was talking about until I mentioned the song “Up All Night”, but it really didn’t seem to register with anyone until this summer… I went to 2 of his shows ALONE last year (Philly, Lancaster) because no one knew who he was enough to want to come with me. I’ve been playing only the California Sunrise tracklist (and Maren Morris) all summer and people started asking me to play that ” where she at where she at where she at tonight” song LOL but no one knew it was Pardi. However, in the past week I’ve had a SIX of my friends (and that’s a lot considering not many of them are country fans) call me to see if I was going to the December Fillmore show because they wanted to see this awesome “new” artist!!! Finally he’s getting his big break!!! Although I’m happy for his success in the mainstream, thanks to you (and Google for finding me your blog), I haven’t listened to country radio in about 2 years… there is MUCH better music on the internet! Keep finding the good stuff!!!!!
