Here is a new artist for us here at CML. At least I think so…

And it’s a great first impression.

The artist is Cory Michael. It looks like he’s out there doing the independent thing. Even in today’s world that’s still an incredibly difficult thing to do.

Artists have lots of ways to get their music to fans. They can go on Spotify and tour and do all kinds of things, but that doesn’t mean it’s easy to build a fanbase.

But with songs like this you have to think that Cory Michael is making some progress.

I’m a sucker for a catchy uptempo country love song. That’s what this one is and if you’re riding in the truck or car and this one comes on you’ll find yourself grooving right along.

It seems that country fans have always appreciated love songs like this. They have been around for just about all the era in country and they’ll probably continue to be around for a long time.

But that’s not to say that Cory sounds like just any other country singer. There are some unique qualities to his style and voice. There is definitely a little gravel in that voice. Almost a little Kip Moore-like.

A little rock and a little traditional country. But it works with what’s going on in country music right now. I’ll be rooting for this one to catch on with Cory’s fans.

And hopefully it brings him some new fans too.
