It’s Wednesday and that means we’re looking back on an album cut that may have got missed. We only get access to the singles so much of the time that a lot of a great music gets lost in the shuffle. This time we’re looking at one of the great songs from Jason Aldean’s sophomore album, Relentless.
Do You Wish It Was Me – Jason Aldean
This album was released in 2007. It’s hard to believe that Jason Aldean has been around that long. You can see how far he’s come as an artist and how his style has changed, but you can also see that he’s always had some of same preferences in material.
This song is about a guy that is kind of talking to his ex-girlfriend. He’s kind of looking at how things are going with her and wondering if she’s happy or if she really wishes she was still with him.
You could pick up on some denial in a song like this. Usually when things end in a relationship both people are not in the same place. One is ready to move on and the other can be caught off guard. That person is left wondering and usually gets stuck in a painful situation where they can’t stop thinking about what happened.
I like this live performance too. It shows that Jason has always had a good stage presence. He won’t move all over the stage like some others, but he commands respect and attention when he’s up there performing.
Great song here and one that shouldn’t be lost in the shuffle.
