It’s been four years since Rodney Atkins has had a hit on the radio. That seems like it’s way too long. He’s been putting out new songs in that time, but none of them have hit on radio. But we know that Rodney will keep on working at it. That’s what he does. He’s a working guy just like all his fans and I missed this last single last year, but better late than never.
Eat Sleep Love You Repeat – Rodney Atkins
I guess this one did come out on Rodney’s Greatest Hits record. But it didn’t crack into the top 40 on the charts, which is too bad because it’s a catchy and fun song. It’s the kind of country we used to have and I could maybe see it doing well with Blake Shelton or Craig Morgan, but for whatever reason it didn’t work for Rodney.
It’s weird how country radio works. I guess there are only so many slots in the day for songs, but you would think a song like this would work with country fans out there. It’s catchy and it’s simple. It makes you feel good and it gives you hope that you can find love out there if you haven’t yet. And it makes you feel good about the love you have if you have it.
Rodney just had his Greatest Hits record out, but hopefully he’s going to keep on going and maybe his second hits collection will have an even bigger impact than this first one. You never know.
