One of the most interesting songs of 2011 was Amen by Edens Edge.
The song entered the top 20 on the charts last fall and introduced the band to the mainstream country audience. This band is really unique. They might remind you of Little Big Town, but there are some differences. I think this band could slowly climb to stardom in country music. They’re working with the right team at their label (Scott Borchetta) so we’ll see what happens.
Here is their latest song, Swingin’ Door. I really like it.
Swingin’ Door – Edens Edge
There is something cool about a band that blends bluegrass with country. It’s not that those two genres are really all that different, but there is an organic sound that Edens Edge captures with Swingin’ Door. It’s really cool. The instruments and the vocals. They’re really different than other songs you hear on radio today.
The song is about a woman that isn’t ready to be just another woman for a guy. She knows he’s a player and moving from town to town. She doesn’t want to be another one of those and she’s ready to move on. She let herself get involved up to this point, but that time is over. She’s over him and over the situation.
Sometimes we can get caught in situations like this. It’s happened to quite a few people out there and that’s one of the reasons the song should do well. It’s a topic many people have either gone through themselves or know about.
Edens Edge should find success once people catch on to what they’re doing. Every few years there is a band with this kind of musicianship talent that really crosses over with mainstream success. I think of bands like the aforementioned Little Big Town and before them it was Nickel Creek and many others.
I’m hoping Eden’s Edge finds that kind of success and even more. I love the lead vocals. I love the instruments. It’s a different sound and every once in a while people latch on to something different and it becomes the next big thing.
What do you think of Swingin’ Door?
