Since he first emerged on the country music scene with his debut single How ‘Bout Youand was later kicked off the Rascal Flatts tour, Eric Church has continued to show fans that he’s going to do things his way.
So it’s no surprise that Eric’s latest choice for a single is…ahem…about an activity that might make a few folks share their heads.
After back to back top ten hits, Eric is releasing the song Smoke A Little Smoke, which has become a fan favorite during his live show. The song is a slow, grooving song that builds on itself through the chorus. There is a stomping background beat that gets the heads banging a little bit for the country rocker. There is a bit of grit and attitude in the vocals. That attitude is becoming a trademark for the young singer that is still working on finding his place in country music.
Never one to follow typical Nashville protocol, Eric Church is defying the odds a bit with his brash approach to the normally conservative country music establishment. Church is a throwback to the outlaws of the past. Church is no Jennings or Jones just yet, but he’s laying down a solid foundation of memorable songs along with a reputation for hard rocking style on the live stage.
The song covers a topic that is not new to country music, but Eric puts a unique spin on the subject of kicking back and enjoying a few tokes. Sometimes it’s good to forget about what’s going on in the world around you and just enjoy a few of the good things in life. Whether you like to have a drink, a smoke, or even mow the lawn or spend time in the garden, we all have our way of letting our brains rest.
Check out the song and let us know what you think.
Is it a third straight top ten hit?
