John Anderson has a classic country voice.

Starting way back in the ’70s John was having hits. He went through a good run initially then he kind of had a few misses. He came back with a few hits and then was gone again. Then in the early ’90s he came back strong with a solid string of hits including this country classic. It’s one of my personal favorites and a great flashback song.

I love it.

That is what country music is all about to me. You have a woman sitting in a bar drinking her sorrows away. All the regular guys know she can’t be approached when she’s drinking tequila. She just wants to be left alone. She’s had enough of the men. She wants to be alone – just her and her tequila.

Most men struggle of course to read the obvious signs from women. We miss the most obvious signs especially when women want to be left alone. We haul right up to them and ask them to dance or perhaps even say something a little more dumb.

What’s best for me about this song is the sound. It’s classic country. It’s a mid-tempo with plenty of heart and soul in the vocals from John Anderson. He’s always had one of the best voices in country. It’s almost like he struggles to get the words out sometimes, but it’s great. It’s raspy and full of life and passion.
