Seeing this made my day.
How did I miss this?!
This one popped up at the very bottom of the New Boots playlist on Spotify. As soon as I saw the name I knew that it had to be.
Ned LeDoux is the name and the song is Forever A Cowboy. If you’ve been around country music for any amount of time you know the name LeDoux. Of course that’s Chris LeDoux. Cowboy country hero from a couple decades ago. Named dropped in Garth Brooks’ first single.
We lost Chris about a decade ago. I had no idea his son has been releasing music recently. He sounds a bit like his dad, but also has his own style. Check this one out.
Forever A Cowboy – Ned LeDoux
We really don’t get many cowboy songs in mainstream country anymore. Probably because we don’t really have any cowboys in country music anymore.
George Strait is still out there. He’s definitely a real life cowboy. And I’m sure there are some that are kicking around Nashville. Leaving the farm and the ranch behind to follow their country music dreams.
But I don’t know if the mainstream country fans are ready to go back to the ranch just yet. We have seen a little throwback to the ’90s lately. But I don’t know if we’ll have full on cowboy songs like this one.
Although we do have a new tv series coming out starring Kevin Costner as the head of a ranch in Montana. I could see this song being the theme.
Anyway, great to see Ned out there doing his thing.
