Is country music ready for the Backstreet Boys?
The guys of Florida Georgia Line appear to have thrown a little curveball to the country world. I guess it’s not the first time they’ve done that. And this time I think they’re going to have a major hit on their hands again.
I thought they were going to release a different song for the next single, but I think the buzz around this one has been so strong that they really had to release it.
God, Your Mama, And Me – Florida Georgia Line
Is country music ready for the Backstreet Boys?
When this song first came out I was interested. The guys in FGL have talked about their fondness for the vocal group back in the late ’90s. It was a time when boy bands ruled the music world and so many of those songs were so catchy.
BSB brings that same sound to this song and it works really well. The lyrics are certainly a little cheesy. It’s a ballad about a guy proclaiming his love for a girl. He’s never going to waver. He’s going to be there as a rock in her life.
So it’s pretty sappy, but that’s the vein that BSB have always worked in and it’s worked really well for them.
And FGL have been shifting in their music on this new album. They’ve been the kings of Bro Country, but recently they’ve been moving into the Nice Guy Country movement. This song is a perfect example of that new style.
I like this one. It’s different. It’s catchy. The more you listen the more you like it.
