I really like this one from David Nail.
David Nail threw me a little curveball on the last one. He’s coming off a pretty strong single with Night’s On Fire. That was a big, catchy hit and a good one for David. I thought that he was then coming out with Got Me Gone, but it looks like those plans have changed.
Now the next single is Good At Tonight, which is a really good choice for a song. I saw David play a show here in Eau Claire, Wisconsin not too long ago and I’m pretty sure he played this one. It went over well with the crowd.
Good At Tonight – David Nail
So it looks like the Brothers Osborne wrote this one along with a couple other great Nashville songwriters. Then David picked it up and made it his own with a little help on harmonies from the brothers.
The song seems to be a bit introspective. It seems like a guy that’s kind of look at himself and being happy, yet maybe not entirely happy with how things have gone. He’s a guy that lives in the moment. He knows that he’s a roamer and that he doesn’t stay in one place very long.
The context makes sense when you’re thinking of someone that’s a touring artist. They live on the road and that means they have to leave and let people down.
I can’t really say what it is about the melody and the sound of this one that clicks, but it really does. This is a song that you groove to and one that gets stuck in your head.
I think it’s a hit. What do you think?
