This one popped up on Wild Country a few weeks ago. I’m not sure why I haven’t covered it yet here on the blog.
The first time we looked at Filmore it was his song, Headlights. That song was something pretty different. I liked it, but I could see why country music fans might be hesitant.
But country music has changed a little bit even in the last few months. The sounds have been a little more electronic in recent months. Fans are starting to feel it a little bit.
Check this one out and see what you think.
Goodnight – Filmore
It sounds like a love song, but I think it’s more of a lust song. Maybe it’s a little of both. I think we have a guy and a girl meeting in the club one night. It sounds like it’s the first time they’ve encountered each other.
They’re feeling each other on the dance floor. There seems to be a spark. It sounds like the guy doesn’t really want to jump things all the way to back to his place. He wants to do more to talk and get to know each other. He wants to make a good night in that way before they just say their goodbyes for the night.
So that’s what’s going on with the story and the lyrics, which is good. But what really stands out about this one is the sound. This Filmore guy is new on the country scene. He’s self-releasing these songs. He’s kind of finding his niche and I think fans are paying attention.
