H.O.L.Y.

It sounds like another big FGL hit to me.

I don’t know why it is this way, but when I see the career trajectory of Florida Georgia Line is reminds me so much of Brooks & Dunn. The obvious connections are that they’re both duos. They both really broke out onto the scene with huge first hits.

But it goes deeper than that. They both had tons of hits off their first two albums. And Brooks & Dunn really kept it up for about 20 years and FGL seems to be on that same kind of trend. They’re going into their third album now and I think they’re getting better and better. Their new song is really good.

H.O.L.Y. – Florida Georgia Line

So the hook here is that H.O.L.Y. stands for “high on loving you”. I like that hook. When you see the title you wonder what it will stand for. With the songs the guys have done in the past you might guess that it was a party anthem that stood for something like “hot one little young’un”.

But these guys are growing and maturing. There’s nothing wrong with the catalog of songs they’ve put out so far. I like party songs and love songs and songs about life.

The guys have talked about how their songs so far have pretty much fallen in line with how they’re living at the moment. And they’ve both settled down in relationships now so they’re feeling a little more grown up. And this song definitely has a feel like a mature love song.

But like you’d expect from FGL it’s catchy and makes you pay attention and sing along.

It sounds like a big hit to me.

Chart Estimate: #1

CML Points: 90/100
