An impressive cover.
I don’t know if there is as much country Christmas coming out this year as their was last year. It seemed that last year there was quite a few new albums coming out from big names in country music.
If it was me, I would release one new song each holiday season. Trying to see if one would catch on and become a single. Kind of a mix of traditional songs, surprise covers and new tunes.
Today we’re looking at a new Christmas song from Lexi Lauren. She’s been on our blog before. She has a lot of potential and I’m really looking forward to see where her career goes.
Hard Candy Christmas – Lexi Lauren
Talk about a task to take on this classic country holiday song. It was originally recorded and released by Dolly Parton in 1982 for a movie role that she had at the time. I had thought that Dolly had written the song, which she didn’t, but she really made it her own. And it’s become one of the songs you’ll hear every holiday season if you’re listening to country radio.
A little melencholy. Definitely on the sad side. Kind of a song for those that don’t necessarily have anywhere to go on the holidays.
Lexi really does a great job on this one. Obviously she’s not going to sound like Dolly, but she makes it her own. And that’s more impressive and important with a song like this one.
Hard Candy Christmas doesn’t get covered too often. It’s cool that Lexi decided to do this one.
