Changing record labels is usually a negative for established acts. It’s hard to have longevity in the music business. Some country acts can have really long careers, but to reach 10 years is pretty unusual.
Montgomery Gentry is going on their 15th year on the country charts. They just released a new single on their third record label and the great thing is that this new song sounds like classic Montgomery Gentry with some modern flair.
Check this one out. I think you’re going to like it.
Headlights – Montgomery Gentry
Listen: Headlights by Montgomery Gentry
Like a classic MG song, this one kicks right in and knocks you in the mouth. You’re instantly hit with loud, screaming guitars and music and the vocals come right along to match.
The chorus is kicking from the first note and it doesn’t seem to stop for the full three minutes. The song is definitely uptempo and before you even know what it’s about you’re rocking your head back and forth like you’re getting ready to go out with friends for the night.
Montgomery Gentry are on Blaster Records now. I don’t know if that label has had big singles before, but I know they’re working with some great acts right now. I wouldn’t be surprised if this song crept into the top 20 and I’m going to guess that it even makes the top 10.
There is something about Montgomery Gentry that fans have liked. The appeal has been there from the very beginning and plenty of people – young and old – love the music these guys put out.
I hope for the best with this single because it’s a good one.
Chart Estimate: #10
