Something from the edges of country.
Here is one from the edge of country music. I like to drop in there once in awhile. You never know when things on the edges are going to become the mainstream.
Everything that is mainstream today was on the edges at some point. The Outlaw movement in the ’70s. The progressive sound in the ’80s. Then back to the neo-traditional sound of the ’90s. Then the rock-country of the ’90s.
It’s always changing and maybe the sound that The Buffalo Ruckus are bringing will be the next big thing.
Hills and Valleys – The Buffalo Ruckus
This song is very interesting. I’m going to have to listen a few times to see what’s going on with the lyrics. I’m guessing that it’s about life and the ups and downs. The hills and valleys we all have to climb in life. Maybe it’s about being on your own and figuring things out. Maybe it’s about a relationship. There are definitely hills and valleys there.
But the sound is the main story for me with this one. It’s got that Americana feel to it. The sound of modern folk music and it’s really a good sound. It sounds layered. It sounds a little haunting in a way. Maybe even a little throwback to some kind of mountain music that is at the roots of America.
It’s really good. And the melodies are good. They make you want to listen more than just once. And that’s what I’ll probably be doing with this one.
What do you think?

I just discovered the song and the band today and I’ve already watched the video (clips of the artists performing rather than a video for the song) several times. Love, love, love it. Posted a share on my Facebook page.
