After three successful albums in partnership with Atlantic, the Zac Brown Band has partnered with Big Machine Records. It seems like just about every major country artists is on that label these days. I always thought the Atlantic partnership was interesting. That label has dipped its toe in country only a few times over the years, but they’ve always produced some great country artists (Tracy Lawrence, John Michael Montgomery).
There is always some apprehension when a big artist switches labels, but it always comes back to the songs. And the first single from ZBB on Big Machine is a good one. Give it a listen and see what you think.
Homegrown – Zac Brown Band
This song has just about everything you would want from Zac Brown Band. It has the sound of a ZBB song. They’ve really honed that sound over the last few years and they’ve played with it a bit too. They’re always adding in little nuances while still keeping familiar.
And this song sounds fresh, but also feels like home, which is what the song is about. The lyrics play on the small town life and all the good things about that. You don’t have to travel far to be happy. And as long as you’re around the people that you care for the most you can be the happiest person in the world.
Great song here from Zac Brown Band. It sounds like a big hit in the making; maybe one of the biggest of 2015.
