It sounds like another hit to me.
About four years ago I first wrote about Dylan Scott here on CML. I certainly wasn’t the first to discover him and his music. But it seems like that was a pretty long time ago. And it’s crazy how one song can really change everything.
Dylan’s fifth single, My Girl, was his breakout song. It reached #1 on the chart earlier this year. Pretty cool stuff.
Now the pressure is on to follow it up. And it sounds like he has another good one.
Hooked – Dylan Scott
So far it sounds like Dylan is looking to fit in with artists like Blake Shelton and Billy Currington. That’s not a bad lane to follow. Those two artists have been around for awhile and don’t seem to be going away anytime soon.
Dylan is coming out with another love song for this one. It seems like a guy that’s looking back on the first time he saw the love of his life. From that very first moment he was hooked.
I think I read or heard about a study that kind of found evidence of this. Guys tend to be the ones that fall head over heels for girls. While girls take a little bit longer to fall for guys.
Anyway, this one sounds ready for radio. I think it’s a good choice for a next single for Dylan. It should keep his momentum going and help him build his catalog of songs.
I hope he sticks around for awhile. He seems to really love what he’s doing.
Chart Estimate: #5
CML Points: 85/100
