You might not know it by looking at the Hot Country Song chart on Billboard, but the women in country music are putting out some killer songs right now. These songs have depth in the stories and lyrics and the melodies are catchy and country.

I Got The Boy – Jana Kramer
From the title you would think this song is going to be a fun-loving country song about falling in love. And I guess in a way that’s what happened, but this song comes later on in life.
In this case we have a woman who is looking at her former boy with someone else. The woman in the song got the boy when he was young. It sounds like they were high school lovers and spent their formative years together.
But now another woman has taken her place. The new woman is the one that will get the man and get the rest of her life with him while the narrator has to sit back and watch it all happen.
So I would consider this a sad country song. You have this poor woman who is in that frame of mind where maybe things aren’t going so well. She might be over that former love, but right now she’s thinking about what her life would be if they were still together. But that life won’t happen and it makes her feel sad for this moment.
Great song from Jana Kramer. She is really a talent and I hope this one does well on the radio charts.
