Raise your hand if you’ve rode in the back of a pickup.
Four Nashville power player songwriters combined their talents to write this great song.
The writers on this one are Rhett Akins, Ashley Gorley, Ben Hayslip and Ross Copperman. When you have that brain trust working together on a song you’re almost guaranteed a hit.
I really like this one. The lyrics are pretty simple. It’s kind of in that vein of “I’m country because of this…” but it takes a different angle. It’s not necessarily talking about country, but just the kind of life that this narrator is living.
I Lived It – Blake Shelton
When you reach the point that Blake has in his career you almost start thinking about what songs people will remember, really remember when his career starts to wind down. He’s kind of entering George Strait, Alan Jackson and Conway Twitty territory now with all his number one hits.
But obviously when you have so many hits there will be some big ones, number one songs even, that people just won’t remember. When an artist has a big hit it’s easy to remember one, maybe five or so, but beyond that only a few stand out.
I think this one has a chance to stand out. It’s a little bit on the slower or medium tempo side of things. It kind of has a timeless feel to it. Not modern country. No traditional. It just kind of fits with all the different styles and era in country music.
And Blake does a great job as always on the vocal. I really like this one.
