There is no voice in country music like Ronnie Dunn. He’s out on his own now and away from the big country record labels. He’s putting out the music he wants and this new song is really good.
This might be one of my favorite singles released from the last couple months. I think it has a chance to be something special. Give it a listen and see what you think.
I Wish I Still Smoked Cigarettes – Ronnie Dunn
The narrator in the song is looking back on the days when things were different. The hook for the song is that back in those days he smoked cigarettes and he wants to go back to those times.
There are a lot of really cool images in this song like muscle cars, old neighborhoods and all kinds of other things.
The song seems to be about life’s changes and how it can kind of catch us by surprise sometimes. So much can happen and it doesn’t really follow a plan.
The best part of this song, though, is the melody. It’s a really cool, kind of sad country song. It sounds like a classic Ronnie Dunn and Brooks & Dunn song that had plenty of heart and emotion. It’s a really good song and I think it’s going to do well.
