This will be a wonderful album.
This is a neat story.
I’m halfway through This Life I Live, the new autobiography from Rory Feek, half of the duo Joey + Rory. Their story has been well known in the country world the last few years.
A neat thing that’s happening this spring dates back about 15 years. Joey was in Nashville and had a record deal with Sony. She recorded an album, but for various reasons it never made it to store shelves.
The Gaither Group, who has released a few projects with Joey + Rory in recent years recently helped purchase that solo record from Sony and now they’re planning to release it in April.
They’ve already put out a couple songs…
If Not For You – Joey Feek
From reading about her it seems that it was Joey’s dream to be a country singer. She achieved that as part of Joey + Rory. But you have to wonder if she ever thought she would see the release of a solo album.
Now it’s pretty neat that her original album will be released. It’s another gift that she’s given the country music world.
This is the title track from that upcoming album.
This is a beautiful song. I believe it’s a true country love song. You have a person that is reflecting on their life with someone they really care about. They’re considering how much different things would be if this person wasn’t in their lives.
The house would feel different. The sights out the window would look different. It just wouldn’t be the same. She would probably be just fine, but she’s grateful to have more than just a fine life.
Joey is very much missed in the country world, but it’s wonderful that even after her passing we’re still able to get this wonderful new album.
