Multi-threat Riley Smith has a new single out.
I believe this is the first introduction for us to Riley Smith here at Country Music Life. It looks like I’ve been a little unaware of his career up to this point.
A lot of times the new artists on the country scene don’t really have a public life before having a hit or two. But in this case Riley has been working full time for over a decade as an actor.
He’s been in a number of movies and also on a number of television shows.
I think it’s pretty cool when creative people cross into different areas of the entertainment industry. It makes sense. When you’re creative and have multiple talents and interests why not try different things?

I’m On Fire – Riley Smith
The song sounds professional. Riley has a voice that fits in well with today’s country music. A little rough around the edges, which gives it an honesty. You feel like Riley is a great person to express this emotion and to tell this story.
I think this one has some sad elements to it. I could be missing something. It could just be your normal love song about a guy missing a girl.
But I’m almost thinking this one is deeper than that. I think it’s more about a guy that’s really missing a girl because they can’t be together anymore. She’s gone and he’s left missing her.
So in that sense it’s a sad country song. And definitely one that a lot of people can relate to.
