There are strong hints of certain settings in this song. It’s something I’m sure many people can relate to either themselves or for someone they know. This is a story that’s all too familiar in American life today. Give this song a couple listens and see if you can relate.
I’m Still Coming Home – Markus Fox
The first thing that attracted me to this song was the melody. I think that’s the most important part of a song. If an artist gets the melody right they’ll win people over initially and if they do well with the lyrics then they can have a song that stands the test of time. But you have to have the melody right first and this song has it. There are catchy parts to it that keep you interested.
Then you get to the lyrics and the story.
I’ll jump out and say that I think the song is about a soldier that’s struggling with life after the military. He can’t un-remember the things he’s seen. The memories are very real and very vivid in his mind and even though he’s still coming home he finds himself thinking back to the past and the life he had on active duty.
The lyrics are vague in certain ways so I don’t know for sure if that’s what the song is about. So you’ll have to share your interpretation with me. I think it’s a well-written song and should do well. I think it will reach people especially those going through similar situations.
