Here is what country music used to be.

Alright, it’s time to get back to some traditional country.

We can always count on Mark Chesnutt to give country fans some real country music. Mark has been going the independent route for a decade or so now, but he’s still been putting out some great country music. I actually missed this album release from earlier in the summer, but I’m on it now.

This is the first song on the record. It wasn’t a single or anything, but I love it. Let’s check it out.

Now there is some country music that you just don’t hear anymore. Although we have a few artists doing some music like this right now with William Michael Morgan and Chris Young. I don’t think they’ve ever done this Texas Swing kind of thing, though, but maybe they will someday.

This one is a classic country story song. It’s about a guy in a tavern and he’s coming off a breakup or a disagreement with his woman. He’s not sure if he should throw that quarter in the jukebox and play a heartbreak song or if he should go the other way.

It doesn’t really get more country than this and Mark is the perfect one for the song. I don’t really know if a country artist today could pull this one off. I know Mark’s buddy Tracy Byrd is back and touring and he could definitely do a song like this one.

It’s great to have Mark still out there making great country music. I love this one.
