Jake Owen Quietly Achieves Rare Feat

Jake Owen

Jake Owen recently joined some impressive company.

The list of country singers with four number one singles on one album is pretty small.

For a number of different reasons it just doesn’t happen that often.

George Strait has more number one singles than any other country artist yet he’s never had four from a single album. Toby Keith is in a similar situation. Toby rarely releases more than three singles from any album. While he’s had more than twenty top songs he’s never had four from the same album.

The list of artists that have achieved four number one singles from one album includes Garth Brooks (No Fences), Shania Twain (The Woman In Me) and Randy Travis (Always & Forever).

Brad Paisley had a remarkable run of number one singles during the ’00s and had five number ones from his 5th Gear album.

Alabama has the record for most number ones in a row with more than 20 during their run in the ’80s. They’ve achieved the four number one feat twice with Roll On and Southern Star.

Alan Jackson did it twice as well with Don’t Rock The Jukebox and Who I Am. Tim McGraw has done it twice with Everywhere and Set This Circus Down.

Recently, Blake Shelton did it with Red River Blue and he’s trying to keep it going with Based On A True Story…

There have been a number of close calls even recently with Dierks Bentley just falling short on his last album.

This week Jake Owen joined the group as Anywhere With You reached the top spot on the Billboard Country Airplay chart. That marked four straight number ones for Owen who joins some incredible company.

It’ll be interesting to see if Jake’s Barefoot Blue Jean Night album is remembered the way the others in this club are. Billboard has changed the way it charts singles in order to keep up with the times.

Jake Owen notched two of his numbers ones on the radio chart while falling short on the sales chart.

Chances are people will remember the album as one of the best of the decade, but perhaps Owen deserves more recognition considering the company he now keeps in country history.
