Country artists are releasing some fun EPs lately. These are short records with a handful of songs. It’s outside the normal marketing efforts of the labels and the artist teams, but it gives fans a little extra music and the artists can release some fun extra music.
This is a new single from Jake Owen. Luke Bryan has been doing this annually every spring and Dierks Bentley just released an EP. I think this trend is pretty cool. I’m thinking we might get annual holiday records like this.
But back to Jake Owen and Summer Jam. Check this one out.
Summer Jam – Jake Owen
This song isn’t going to win any awards for being profound, but that’s not what it’s about. The lyrics video is kind of weird because you can see the words and they’re certainly not Shakespeare, but who am I to judge? I’m not that great of a writer and I certainly can’t write songs.
Let’s love this track for what it is – a fun summer country song. The melody is great. I could kick back on a late summer day and enjoy life while listening to this music. That’s what this entire thing is all about. Jake is just kicking back and having a good time. I have nothing wrong with that.
As I was listening to this song I thought I heard the guys from Florida Georgia Line singing a verse. It turns out they wrote the song and have recorded it. It’s pretty cool that Jake brought them on board for his version. It’s a fun summer song and fits the feel of the EP.
Great stuff from Jake Owen and how about those guys from FGL? They’re tearing up the chart. They came out of nowhere and now they’re everywhere.
