Jason Aldean is my favorite current artist.
If you pressed me to pick one country artist for my favorite in 2011 it would be Jason Aldean. His latest album really captured something with me. I’m not entirely sure why the songs are connecting with me. Perhaps Jason is writing about things we can both relate to. We’re both guys around late 20s, early 30s. Perhaps we’ve seen a few of the same things in our lives.
I’m not entirely sure, but there is another song on Jason’s latest album I just had to feature here on CML…
See You When I See You could be yet another single from My Kinda Party. This track is mid tempo and a little sentimental. It’s about two people either breaking up or saying goodbye. The narrator is having difficulty with the goodbye and instead of actually saying so long they would rather say we’ll see you again sometime.
Goodbyes are tough. In my lifetime I’ve had a few instances where I’ve wanted to make goodbye a short instance. I want to say I’ll see you again someday and move on to something else. Long goodbyes have always been awkward for me. Is there really anything you can say in five extra minutes you can’t say in the time you’ve known the person before?
That might come back to bite me someday, but for some reason See You When I See You really connects with me. It’s a song I relate to on the emotional level plus Jason nails the vocals and melody.
A million songs have been written about goodbye before, but I think this one is unique.
For those of us that struggle with goodbye this is the perfect song.
