The duo has released a very successful debut album The Life of a Song and now they’re touring with the Zac Brown Band. Joey + Rory have high praise for ZBD and say they’re unlike anything else in country music right now. Rory told The Boot that he even penned a few new tunes with Zac and the guys while sitting on the bus. I’m sure the songs will be great and we’ll likely see them on new albums from the two groups.
Joey + Rory have also been busy recording and preparing new music for release in 2010. The group is working on a new studio release as well as a new Christmas album. “Christmas is Rory’s favorite holiday,” Joey told The Boot. The album will reportedly feature original Christmas songs written by Rory as well as some holiday favorites. And I’m sure the duo will put their unique twist on the tracks making the album a must have when its released just before the Christmas season kicks off.
The duo of Joey + Rory have found a niche for themselves in country music. On the surface, the two are not the typical Nashville product. Rory always has his trademark overalls and there is almost a bluegrass feel to the couple…that is until Joey starts singing and Rory starts playing. Together the duo creates high quality country music that fans love. The duo’s song Cheater, Cheater was a major hit on the charts and it helped their debut album selling a couple hundred thousand copies.
The couple broke out onto the scene during CMT‘s Can You Duet and they haven’t looked back. The couple became instantly loved by country music fans when the video of the duo submitting their story to Can You Duet hit the airwaves. The video shows two people very much in love and working every day at what they love just like so many regular country music fans. Joey leaves early each morning to tend to her restaurant and Rory hits the road shortly after to head to Nashville to write songs.
Joey + Rory are unlike any other artist in country music today and fans are paying attention. I wish them all the best with their new music in 2010.
