Joey + Rory are special.

They’ve released a few singles now and last month released a great collection of Christmas songs. Now they have a new and original Christmas song from the new album making the rounds on the video channels. This isn’t the traditional holiday song, though. Check out Let It Snow (Somewhere Else)…

Let It Snow (Somewhere Else) – Joey + Rory

Joey + Rory seem like they’ll always be around making great country music. They have struggled a bit to get their singles played on the radio, but the country duo seems to have a growing family of fans. The duo has been writing new songs and there appears to be a new album in the works.

Until then, however, the husband/wife team has released a new video just in time for the holidays. But that doesn’t mean these two are looking forward to cold weather. In fact, Joey + Rory are ready to hop on board Kenny Chesney’s plane and hitting the islands.

Let It Snow (Somewhere Else) pokes a little fun at the white Christmas image we all dream about and instead sees the good side of heading south for Christmas and enjoying some fun in the sun. It’s a great image I have to admit. Living up here in Wisconsin is great, but the snow and the cold get old after a while. It’s hard to look outside come January and see a few feet of the white stuff on the ground. It makes you wish it would snow somewhere else just for one year.

The song is great for Joey + Rory. They just have a way of coming up with great tunes. The new twist on Let It Snow, though is that Rory takes the lead on the vocals. Joey is still there singing back up with her wonderful voice, but we get to hear Rory and it’s a pleasant surprise. He’s got a great voice to go along with his great songwriting ability.

Let It Snow (Somewhere Else) probably won’t become a Christmas standard, but it’s always good to change things up a little bit. You remember songs like Rain Is A Good Thing or even the more apt All I Want For Christmas Is A Real Good Tan? Those kind of took a new look on classic though patterns and really worked out well.

Joey + Rory are great and I love Let It Snow. I hope they can find success here as we head into 2012. Maybe this song and video will get them some more attention and really get things going for new music in the new year.
