John Rich was busy recently shooting the video for his new video.
It’s been an interesting career for Rich. He was a member of the successful country group Lonestar for their first two albums in the ’90s (he left or was fired prior to the recording of their triple platinum album Lonely Grill). After that he hung around the clubs in Nashville as a solo artist before hooking up with Big Kenny to form Big & Rich where the duo had platinum success for a few years with their unique breed of country music.
Now, on a new video on CMT Insider News Now 4.30.10, Rich discusses his new release Country Done Come To Town.
Now, Rich’s music has been a mixed bag with me over the years. I’ve liked some of the B&R records. I loved some of the early Lonestar music. And JR has been mostly forgettable in his solo career post-B&R.
Now Rich is releasing some rocking tunes on tap for fans. It’ll be interesting to see if this collection of songs will become a hit with fans.
The thing I respect and like about JR is his passion for country music. He describes the landscape of his vision for the genre so well and he has a way of pulling you into his world and enjoying all the things country has to offer. More than an artist, John Rich is an evangelist for country music.
And the more people like John Rich we have in country the better the genre will be.
