Josey Milner

A big challenge for Josey Milner

At first I was curious to see how this song would turn out. It’s one thing to take on a great song. It’s another to take on a great song originally released by a great artist.

That’s the challenge Josey Milner took on when she decided to cover Dead Flowers, which I originally heard from Miranda Lambert a few years ago. The song wasn’t a huge hit for Miranda, but it always stuck out in my mind as a great track. It’s a sad song, but a powerful song about relationships and how not all of them work out.

So that’s what Josey had to overcome and you know what?

I think she pulled it off.

Dead Flowers – Josey Milner

It was a tough task, but I like this version from Josey. It took me a while to get over the fact that this was recorded by Miranda Lambert. I just had her voice in my head, but once I got past that it became about Josey’s interpretation of the song. She does a great job. She’s a different artist than Miranda and I’m sure some of you won’t like Josey’s version, but I know there are some of you that will.

There are points in the song where you can really hear the talent in Josey’s voice. She has a real potential to have a strong career in singing. It’s always tough to break out in the mainstream, but you never know. I have to say that her song choice in this instance was great. Her voice fits the track well and I think it’s something people are really going to enjoy.

What did you think of the song?

CML Points: 80/100

I wholeheartedly agree with your assessment, Mr. Shuda. Josey has all the potential to have an excellent career. Song selection will, as with all artist, be important to showcase her talents. I look forward to hearing more from this rising star.

i also like josey’s interpretation of “dead flowers” too, she also does a good job on “edge of seventeen” and “walking after midnight” in case you haven’t heard those.

Fantastic Vocals. I absolutely love this version. It is just as good if not better than Miranda Lambert’s. Great production.
