I like these live performance videos from the radio stations. I think the process works where the artists, especially new artists, go to radio stations to plug their new songs. They have to earn the trust of the disc jockeys and convince them the song is worth playing for their audiences. It’s gotta be tough work.
Anyway, the new track is Gone Like That and I’d say it’s a good one.
The song is about a guy that encounters an ex-girlfriend. The story goes that she left him a while ago without saying goodbye. She was gone like that and he almost lost it. The loss crushed him. He wasn’t ready for things to be over and she just moved on with her life.
Now the two have a chance meeting and the guy isn’t sure he can take another moment where she’s here for a time and gone in an instant. It’s an interesting story for a song. It seems unique and it is definitely interesting. I think we’ve all had those moments of awkwardness with exes. We encounter them after a bit of time away and we’re not sure how to act. We’re not sure if we can take the awkward moments.
Josh’s voice on the song is as good as it was on his first single. He definitely has the singing chops for big time country radio hits. The bloodline in his family is definitely strong. Josh seems to put some real emotion into the track as well. It’s always interesting to wonder where the emotion comes from in these songs and from the initial listen it seems there may have been an experience like this in Josh’s past.
