We’ve covered Aaron Watson a few times here on CML. This time we have his great new song that has a little bit more of a serious tone. I think you’re going to like this one. Give it a couple listens and see what you think.
July In Cheyenne – Aaron Watson
There are a lot of country songs about the rodeo and the cowboy way of life. Most are about the traveling lifestyle and how fun it can be while others talk about how that life can take a toll on the cowboy and the people that care about them most.
This song kind of takes things to a different level. It’s about the seriousness of the rodeo and how dangerous things can get for a cowboy whether he’s out working the land or out in the ring riding bulls or riding broncs. There have been many cases where those rodeo cowboys have been bucked off and haven’t been able to get back up. They’ve been carried out of the arena to the funeral home.
It’s a sad reality and it makes you think about what these cowboys take on when they do what they love for a living.
Great song here from Aaron Watson. He’s put out quite a few songs now and it seems like they’re all great songs. This one has a good melody even if the song is a little on the somber side.

it’ all about a “country song”. that what this song is. Not a pop-goes-to-country song
