Just Got Paid by Emerson Drive (@EmersonDrive)

This one might sound familiar…

For a couple reasons.

First, the song has been featured here on our little blog in the recent past. Dee Jay Silver had this song out. It was funky and upbeat and really fun.

Second, now the song has been released by Canadian country band Emerson Drive. If you’ve been around country for awhile you remember that name.

In the early and mid 2000s, this band had some big hits. I Should Be Sleeping and Moments among them. Just really great songs.

They’ve been putting out music since those times and I like their new one.

Their sound seems just as good. Their lead singer always had a unique sound. He seemed country to the core. And the band had a progressive sound always and that is still there. Fans have always loved the whole package.

And this song fits right in with what they’ve been doing. Country and small town lyrics with a little mix of country and pop in the production. It all works together really well.

I also have to note the whistling on the track. It’s just a little bit at the end, but it sounds fun. Just a little something extra at the end. This is a kind of song that makes you want to whistle a little bit.

I’ve kind of lost touch with Emerson Drive over the last few years. I know they had a pretty big hit in Canada a few years ago with another artist named Tebey.

I’m curious to see how this one does.
