So I read a few articles where Joe Nichols was already talking about his next album.
He’s coming off a very successful record with Crickets. It was Joe’s first on a new label and it started off with two number one singles and a top 25 with the third. But the album had a ton of songs and a few worthy of being singles, but sometimes you have to move on to the next record I guess.
But before that I wanted to highlight a song I thought was single-worthy from Crickets.
Just Let Me Fall In Love With You – Joe Nichols
You can hear the line “crickets” in there and from that you know where the title of the album comes from. Okay, there is actually a song last on the album that is called Crickets. That’s probably where the title came from or the fact that there were at least two songs that had that in the lyrics.
But on the song level this is a great love song. It’s just one of these situations where a great song kind of gets lost on a great album. There just often isn’t enough time for all the great songs to be released and that means some will miss out on great music.
This song kind of reminds me of George Strait. It’s not flashy. It’s not incredibly different, but something about it makes you smile and enjoy the music. The more you listen the more you like. And the more you pay attention the more you notice little things that do make it unique and special.
Great song here from one of country’s best traditionalists.
