This is actually the second time we’ve heard from Kacey Musgraves. She appeared on a single last year with the Josh Abbott Band. That was a great track and now Kacey is here on her own with a great new song. I really like this one.

Merry Go ‘Round – Kacey Musgraves

You might remember Kacey from the show Nashville Star. She didn’t place particularly well on the show, but just to get the finals of the show is impressive and that competition has really done well with its alumni.

Now Kacey has her first single out at country radio and it’s already in the top 40 on the countdown. That’s pretty impressive for a new artist, but once you hear the song you realize that it’s really good and it’s probably going to be a top 20 and maybe a top 10 hit. I think it’s that good of a song.

The song is about a woman looking on the life that’s happening around her. She’s just being observant of all the things that are happening to her and her family. Not all of it’s good. There are addictions affecting those in her family. It’s kind of sad, but that’s life. Nothing is all as good as we make it seem on the outside. We are all flawed.

What I like about this song is the melody. It’s really catchy. You can sing along with it and really feel like you’re sitting on the front porch on a cloudy day just watching life go by. On the other side is the story of the song. You can really put yourself in the story of this song. We all have intentions of how life should end up, but it never goes as we planned.

This is a great song. I thin it’s going to surprise a few people.
