Kelly Clarkson

Kelly Clarkson made a wise choice bringing in Vince Gill.

Anytime you bring in Vince Gill to sing along with you on a song you are making good decisions.

That’s exactly what Kelly Clarkson has done with her new single Don’t Rush. The song is a sultry love song about taking some time away from the busy day to just stay inside and be together. The song seems to be bring out a new side from Clarkson. I have to admit, though, that I haven’t followed her career too much outside of her recent country releases, which have been really good.

Don’t Rush – Kelly Clarkson

First off, this song has a great melody. During the first listen you’ll find yourself singing along with the lyrics. That’s the sign of a great hook and melody. It’s a great track for playing on a Sunday afternoon where you’re just hanging out around home catching up on some rest and cleaning up around the house.

The song reminds me of the Adult Contemporary music of the last 30 years. It’s really just stripped back focused on the melodies and the vocals from the two artists. It’s a great duo even though the focus is mostly on Clarkson.

Vince Gill frequently talks about how nice it was early on in his career when other established artists would sing on his tracks. Now he’s been returning the favor for years and his voice on this song really adds great depth and emotion. He does a wonderful job as always and enhances this song to one of the best releases in country music in a long time.

As you can tell, I like the song.

What do you think?

Chart Estimate: #5

CML Points: 84/100

I really like the melody, good to hear a relaxing song, without the fast not so country melodies that we hear today.

    I agree Elwood. That’s a good point.
