There is a theme in much of Kenny Chesney’s latest music. It seems Kenny has struggled with love and women for his entire adult life. The songs over his the past five years or more have dealt with issues of love and struggle.
Here is the latest offering from that same theme: Come Over.
Come Over – Kenny Chesney
The last time we saw Kenny Chesney I was calling him cliche. Well, it only took a couple weeks for Kenny to move on from Rockstar and into his next single. I’m happy he did. This new track took me a couple listens, but I’m really starting to like it. At first I thought the repetitive chorus was a little strange, but now I really like the song.
Come Over sees Kenny going back to the issues of single life. It’s a common theme in much of Kenny’s music especially in the last few years. He’s a well known bachelor. He’s been linked to various women over the years, but there appears to be some struggle in Kenny’s life when it comes to love. It seems much of it has to due with his status as a celebrity. I’d imagine it makes things difficult for love and a personal life.
For the general listener Come Over is about the struggle of trying to get over someone. You tell yourself and them that you want to move on. You don’t want them to visit or even come close, but in the end you both give in. They come over and you fall in love for one more night. Then you wake up again in the morning and play the same game.
Love is strange when you’re a single adult. Things are complicated. There are people in your life you can’t seem to get past even if you realize it’s not the best situation for the long term. It’s tough. It’s hard to move on. It’s a struggle.
Kenny is struggling with this right now in this song. It’s a great track and I think lots of country folks out there will relate to this one. Kenny is back to making great music and this track will excite people about Welcome to the Fishbowl.
