Eric Church is coming off a really strong #1 song. He did an interview recently. I guess it was his first major interview since Mr. Misunderstood came out last fall. That album kind of came out of nowhere and that was by plan. It’s also been a little bit of a slow building album, which is kind of cool.
In that interview Eric talked about how there will definitely be seven or even eight singles from this album. I guess he hasn’t done a normal amount of promotion for the record, but he’s getting ready to do that in 2017. So he’s ready to really kick things into gear and this album should be around for another 1-2 years at least.
Here is the third single from the album. It’s another good one that sounds like a hit.
Kill A Word – Eric Church
Very interesting song. The lyrics are something that seems totally unique. I don’t think I’ve heard a song with a concept quite like this, but I could be wrong. I guess the concept is a little bit in the same vein as Blake Shelton’s She’s Got A Way With Words, but they’re two different songs.
This one is about how words affect us in different, but very impactful words. The narrator wants to kill those words and take them out of his life. I think the song is purposely vague. You get a little insight into what might be going on. Maybe the narrator has gone through a difficult breakup potentially caused by temptation. That could be what’s going on, but it’s vague.
This is a good one. It has a good melody. It also sounds completely perfect for Eric Church.
I like it.
