Lee Brice Truck

Grab a box of tissues for this one.

If you’re not sitting down you may want to because this song is emotional. In fact, grab the tissue box because you might have a need by the end of the song. Lee Brice has been rolling with his singles the last couple times out and he’s looking for yet another number one hit with this one. It’s for fathers and sons and really anyone in the family that’s lost someone.

I Drive Your Truck – Lee Brice

I’m going to take as step back on this one because it could be about a son or a daughter. I don’t think it really comes across in the song and it’s probably better that way. There are plenty of women out there driving trucks and I’m sure there are plenty of kids out there driving their dad’s truck.

That’s what this track is about. Lee Brice sings about a person that’s lost his or her dad recently. The entire family is struggling to get over the loss. Mom is calling to make sure the child is going to see the grave, but everybody deals with loss and death in their own way. For this situation the child has chosen to ride around in their dad’s truck.

It’s a pretty touching image because you can imagine this person really struggling with the death. They want their dad back in their life, but they don’t know how to make it happen. So in the end they connect with the memory by riding around in the truck. They have the little things like the details in the truck and the memories of when dad was driving around with them.

It’s a touching song and a sure hit for a guy that’s really becoming a huge star of late in country music.

Chart Estimate: #3

CML Points: 85/100
