Melanie Meriney

This song has some depth.

Another promising new artist for us to discover at Country Music Life.

Her name is Melanie Meriney.

Usually I give new songs from brand new artists one or two listens. I like to kind of write the review in a stream of thought pattern getting my initial thoughts out there.

But this one worked out a little different. This time I’ve been listening to it for a dozen or so times. And with each listen I like it more and more.

It looks like the song has been out for a few months. It might be gaining some traction in the country world right now. Give it a listen and see what you think.

Lifeboat – Melanie Meriney

This one took me a few listens to figure out the lyrics.

At first I thought it was for sure a love song. A girl that’s falling and reeling for a guy. The guy is feeling the same way. The music had a little bit of an uptempo kind of thing going on.

Then the more I listened the more I realized it was about a girl that was struggling with a guy that’s kind of a mess. He’s out there drinking. I don’t know if we get the full story of his issues, but it’s obviously having an effect on himself and on the girl that still cares for him.

But she’s not sure if she can go through with it anymore. If he can’t figure out how to help himself then she might have to move on.

CML Points: 85/100
