Jessie James Decker has been fighting for a hit at radio for a few years now. She keeps recording music and working and working and one of these days she’s going to get rolling.
Maybe it’s already happened.
This is the sixth single Jessie has released since 2010 on the country charts. This started after her debut album, which had a few pop and dance singles. Then it switched over to country.
And this one is already her highest charting and it’s still going.
Lights Down Low – Jessie James Decker
I think this song fits in really well with what’s working on country radio right now. We have artists like Kelsea Ballerini kind of breaking down the door on the modern country female. This song kind of reminds me of what Kelsea has put out over the last year.
And that’s a good thing. It’s a flirty love song that is really catchy. You can turn it on and dance around the room to it with the person you love most. And if you’re in the car you know you’ll be singing it loud and proud.
Well, maybe it will become that kind of song, but it is fun and does have a catchy melody that might turn into one of those ear worms. We’ll have to wait and see, but this single is off to a strong start.
I first heard it on Wild Country on Spotify, which is where I’m discovering a lot of new country music. And this one has been rising on that playlist.
Good stuff.
