Lorrie Morgan

Lorrie Morgan is bringing back some country to today’s country world.

Back in the ’90s I would listen to country music all the time. The radio was pretty much on a country station wherever I was. And if a commercial would come on one station I would switch over to the other country station in the area.

One artist that was big in the ’90s was Lorrie Morgan. She was always one of my favorites. She always came across in her music as honest. But not just honest, she also came across as confident and sure of the kind of music she wanted to make.

Well Lorrie is back again after having not released new music in a few years. She’s recorded some classics and I think a few new songs including this one, which I really like.

Lonely Whiskey – Lorrie Morgan

I can’t find any information on where this song comes from. You’ll have to fill me in if you know the background on it. The reason I ask is that it sounds like a classic country song. I’m not sure who wrote it or what the story is, but it really is a traditional country song and Lorrie pulls it off perfectly.

The hook is that whiskey has been a part of heartbreak for a long time. We’ve had the stories in country music of people going to whiskey when they’re feeling heartbreak and the play on words in this song is that there is never any lonely whiskey in the world. It’s always going to be there waiting for someone to take a drink because there is always someone out there who’s lonely.

I’m glad Lorrie made this record. I don’t know how people will react, but I know traditional country fans won’t want to miss it.

What do you think?
