A new artist for us here at CML: Matthew O’Neill.
We’re going out to the edge of country music with our song today. This time it’s a new one called Louisiana and it’s from Matthew O’Neill.
It looks like he’s been around the music world for awhile. He’s had music out before. It looks like he has a pretty strong fanbase. They love what he’s been doing.
I say that we’re going out to the edge of country with this one because it sounds different from some of the country you’ll hear in the mainstream. But I think it still fits in pretty well.
Louisiana – Matthew O’Neill
The feel on this one reminds me of something from the ’70s. That was a time when it seemed like you could do just about anything in music. And sometimes it would catch on.
I’m only saying that as someone looking back on the music now. I wasn’t around during those times, but it seems like they experimented with all kinds of sounds.
I’m not really sure what the lyrics are saying in this song. I can hear the words just fine, but it seems like the kind of song you have to listen to a few times to really dig deeper into what the artist is saying. I like that quality in a song.
The melody is growing on me with this one too. But overall it’s that sound and that groove. It’s eery in places. It’s weird and makes you a little uneasy.
What are your thoughts on this one?
