Love & Theft is having a hot career resurgence right now. The guys are back with new music. Their latest single is already in the top ten on the charts and seems poised to maybe even reach the top spot. We’ll have to see how things shake out over the next month.

In the meantime the guys released their second album today. It’s now become one of the most anticipated records of the year. There are some great tracks on the new set including this one called Amen.

Amen – Love & Theft

I just love this track. It blends the Adult Contemporary sound with modern day country music. I really like it. The guys have something entirely unique right now. There is no sound like this in country. The song is smooth and soulful. Maybe that’s the word I’m looking for here – soulful. I guess David Nail is making music like this as well, but his last single didn’t climb as high as he had hoped so maybe we’ll get Amen from Love & Theft instead.

The track is a romantic tune about love and staying in on Sunday. The guy wants to spend the entire morning and really the entire day with his lover. He doesn’t see any reason to leave the house. It’s all about spending the day in love and enjoying that part of life. Nothing else matters when you feel that way about someone.

I don’t know what it is about this track. I keep hitting replay even as I’m writing this review. It’s a slow song, but it’s really catchy. The melody is incredible. I think it should be released as a single. It seems to have that catchy factor that could have country fans singing it like crazy. We’ll see.

I have to mention that I was pleasantly surprised to see one of the co-writers on the track. Those of you that remember the years 1995-2000 in country music will surely remember Bryan White. The singer emerged on the scene at the age of 20 and kind of faded out of the spotlight by his 25th birthday. He became a huge sensation and since that time has spent his life raising a family and still staying active on some levels in music.

Now Bryan is back with this great cut on the new L&T record. It’s great to see the continued success. It’s also easy to hear Bryan singing this song. It has his sound all over it. Bryan really had the soul back in the mid-90s.

Bryan says it best in the video above.

“This song’s about skipping church and makin’ love.”

Amen.

But it’s Love & Theft’s song and I have a feeling they’re going to do great things with it.
