This one is bringing me back…
In 1992, I was riding the bus to school everyday. And here in Wisconsin the bus drivers almost always played country music. They didn’t often play pop or rock music because they didn’t want the kids getting too riled up.
And country music is just better in my opinion. I think the kids on the bus loved it even if they didn’t want to admit to it.
One of the big acts around that time was Confederate Railroad. We don’t always look back now on what’s been 25 years since their debut album had six singles on it including a bunch of hits. They were big time.
And now they’re back with a new album and the title track is great.
Lucky To Be Alive – Confederate Railroad
These guys are sounding as good as ever. They released a few albums in the mid ’90s and had a run of hits. Then after that they kind of hung out on the fringes of the radio, but I think they have been touring for a really long time.
As is the case with established acts like this there is really no point in releasing new music, but I’m really glad these put this one out.
The title track is great. It’s about a guy looking back on his life and realizing that he’s made some poor choices and that he’s lucky to be alive. Maybe now that he’s older he can finally take that realization to heart and start making some good choices…or maybe not. Do we really ever change?
Great song. Great band. I’m glad they’re back with new music.
