This is a good one.
Cale Dodds first popped up on our radar at CML with his last single, People Watching. That song was really catchy and fun. It was a good way to kind of introduce Cale to the country world although I’m sure he’s been working hard for longer than that.
Now he’s back with another new song from his latest EP. This one is a little more serious and something that country fans should be able to relate to. Let’s check it out.
Lying – Cale Dodds
So the hook here is that it’s about a love that couldn’t really go on. Two people met and kind of felt things going strong, but then life got in the way and they had to move in different directions.
Maybe it’s about summer love. Maybe it’s love that happened at a wedding for one night or something like that. There are a number of situations where two people meet and feel the sparks flying and they feel that there could be something more there, but they have to leave each other.
They promise that they’ll stay in touch. They want to, but that long distance kind of thing really doesn’t work out very well especially for new love. Maybe it can work, but usually it’s not going to.
This is a good song. It’s catchy. It’s something that people can relate to. It’s real life.
I don’t know if this one has major label support, but it’s a good song and should find an audience with country fans.
